Ditch Coupons Before Customers Ditch You

By Paul Johnson Everyone wants to feel like they're getting a good deal. Merchants often attempt to capitalize on this desire through coupon offers, rebates, and "special discounts." Coupons have become the promotional drug of choice to woo more business from new and old customers alike. Unfortunately, coupons can destroy customer relationships almost as fast as they are made. The worst coupon abusers are merchants who set a relatively high list price compared to the competition, and then use coupons or other incentive plans to discount it so buyers feel like they're getting a good deal. I had a fabulous customer service experience derailed by such a pricing blunder. I was looking for a new dry cleaner and discovered FC Cleaners (not their real name). When I walked in, they discovered I was a new customer, handed me a Passport book, and explained to me that I would routinely receive a significant discount whenever I presented the book with incoming dry cleaning orders. I wasn't impressed until I picked up my order. All of my shirts now had bar code labels. The computer-printed labels attached to the neatly hangered and bagged clothes described each article in detail, right down to my neck size. They truly knew how to use technology to manage a relationship! I also knew I could go to any FC Cleaners in Atlanta and be instantly identified by my bar code labels. Soon I returned to have more cleaning done. I dropped off the clothes, and then remembered I had forgotten my Passport. Oh well, I'll just bring it with me when I pick them up. As planned, I returned in a few days with my Passport. My enthusiasm for our relationship disappeared when they explained, "Sorry, you'll have to pay stupid people prices since you failed to present your passport when you dropped off your order." Of course, they didn't explain it that way. They cordially explained that their policy prevented them from giving me a discount. As Dr. Martha Rogers of Peppers and Rogers Group says, Policies treat everybody like nobody, and that's exactly how I felt. When I dropped off the clothes, their computer could tell them who I was, where I lived, the details of all my garments, and my complete transaction history. But it couldn't -- or is it wouldn't? -- tell them that I was a Passport discount buyer. As a result, I was forced to pay retail and fork over an extra ten spot. From a goodwill perspective, they would have been much better off without a list price discounting program. Sometimes I'll be in line at a store when the person ahead of me presents a coupon to the cashier and immediately gets a discount. I have no such coupon. It looks like I'll be paying stupid-people prices again. On occasion a friendly cashier has offered to give me a coupon on-the-spot. Very thoughtful -- but maybe not. Does this mean their merchandise is really overpriced? Does this store have any integrity? Do they really have a consistent pricing policy? My assumption is that, for some reason, I don't look like a sucker today. If you want to use coupons for promotion, consider making them an integral part of your pricing strategy. I recommend to my clients that they only offer discounts, including coupons, for one-time irregular (preferably non-repeating) events. Examples might be first-time orders, year-end closeout of a particular model, or cleaning off shelves in preparation for inventory. A new product launch would qualify. However, end of the month discounts don't hold water, nor does the lame excuse, "I need another deal to make quota." Coupons are useful to get people in the door and give you a try, but you need to have a way to track repeat buyers. Don't train customers to never show up without a coupon. I won't buy a pizza without one. Instead, honor them with a "frequent buyer" program that rewards them with lower prices or -- better yet -- additional services when they come back time and again. Show them you know they're not stupid, and they'll know how smart you are. The goodwill you generate will result in good business for you. 2005 Paul Johnson. All rights reserved. Heavy Metal Detox For Your Autistic Child

By Sandra Kim Leong Do you suspect that your child may be autistic? If your child has a delay in speech, does not want to interact socially and have various odd behavioural patterns, you should get him diagnosed. These symptoms, most often, are evident by the time he hits three. Hence, an assessment done at the age should be able to tell if you have cause for worry, Autism is a neurological brain disorder. Some experts say that autism may be caused by a exposure. Mercury is known to cause neurological disorders as it mainly triggers brain dysfunction. Mercury is likely to be absorbed by the body if it is presented as ethyl mercury that are usually used in thimerosal, preservatives, and additives and even in pediatric vaccines. Hence to get rid of the mercury, it appears that it is necessary to do a heavy metal detox or a mercury detox. Heavy metal detox is a process where chelating agents aid the body into excreting heavy metals by bonding with the toxic materials and make them less active. Heavy metal detox is in progress when hazardous metals are absorbed by the bloodstream and is excreted safely by the liver or kidney. There are a lot of medications that can aid in heavy metal detox. DMSA is one of the most common FDA-approved drugs to treat individuals who need heavy metal detox. It contains mixed disulfide and cysteine that forms a water-soluble chelating agent that can effectively excrete lead content through urination. DMSA may be deemed as an effective heavy metal detox agent but there are known side effects that move a lot of physicians not to recommend it to autistic children. Some of the reported side effects of DMSA are self-stimming, seizures and some dysfunction of the central nervous system. Individuals with autism may or may not show these side effects because as mentioned earlier, it's always a case-to-case basis. Another option for heavy metal detox is the intake of DMPS. This is the next alternative for DMSA. DMPS may be a little pricey, but it is recommended to be taken only once a month. This is generally cheaper compared to DMSA for which you have to take them 28 times on a monthly basis. There are also other options that you can consider for your child for a much gentler way of detoxification. For instance, taking certain herbal supplements known to aid in detoxification as well as homeopathy. If you are concerned about the mercury levels in your child, you can get a test done. If the diagnosis shows that this is the case, then you need to discuss with your physician thoroughly about what your options are. There are also additional ways to help your child improve his brain function. Kinesiology is a good example. Sandra Kim Leong writes on detoxification and cleansing. Dandelions, Friend or Foe?

By Paul Burke The Dandelion, most common in the northern climates, is prevalent throughout both rural and urban settings. Easily identifiable by its yellow flower and uniquely shaped leaves, the dandelion does have several characteristics that make it a useful plant, even though those living in an urban environment find it to be nothing but a nuisance. The Dandelion has a thick taproot that is dark in color on the outside, white and milky on the inside. Its leaves are shiny and jagged, and constructed to gather and direct moisture to the center of the plant, thus keeping it well watered. The Dandelion flower is sensitive to changes in the weather, thriving and reaching for the sky in direct sunlight, closing itself up when raining and with the dew of the night. As the flower matures, one day in the sun and with a light breeze, the blossom turns a fluffy, silky white, full of seeds and releases them into the surrounding environment, only to compound the problem. Most small birds favor the seeds of the Dandelion, and bees are provided with plenty of pollen and nectar from the flowers in the early spring. Young Dandelion leaves can be used in salads, and of course many are finding dandelion wine a tasty beverage. Control of Dandelions is considered to be easy. Chemical control with a broadleaf herbicide will generally eliminate the problem in one to two applications. Proper cultural practices will ensure future control without the use of chemicals. A lawn that is fertilized on a regular basis, watered weekly and cut at a mowing height of 2 to 3 inches will create a lawn that is thick and vigorous, thus preventing the germination of Dandelions and other weeds. Paul is a Certified Pesticide Applicator in the province of Alberta, Canada. He has over 15 years experience in the lawn care industry. The Identity of the Twenty Four Elders in Revelation 4 Part Two

By Keith Brown In part one of this investigation, I shared many scriptures that support my belief that the twenty-four elders mentioned in the book of Revelation are indeed the true Church of Jesus Christ having been raptured to heaven prior to the tribulation. I would like now to add to that some related facts to assist you in your study. The name ELDER is only used in the Word of God of two types of peoples. Firstly it is used of Israel in the Old Testament. Numbers 11 16-30 God told Moses to Gather to Me seventy men of the elders of Israel.. The elders mentioned in Revelation are unlikely to be the elders of Israel. We know that All Israel shall be saved Romans 11:26 but the timing in Revelation 4 does not fit in with other key scriptures. The second mention of elders in the Bible is of course connected to the Church. Acts 14:23 .appointed elders in every Church.. These elders were to be overseers and representatives in the Church. This I believe is more in keeping with Revelation 4. The twenty-four elders being representative of the born again Church. Some teach that the elders in Revelation are in fact angelic beings. But we need to understand a few things before we adopt this view. The twenty-four elders in Revelation 4:4 are seen SITTING. Nowhere in scripture do we ever read of Angels sitting! The elders of Revelation 5 are NUMBERED. See verse 11. .and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand and thousands of thousands. Whereas Hebrews 12:22 speaks of an innumerable company of Angels so many that they cannot be numbered! We must also remember that the Bible never speaks of Angels SINGING. (check it out..They always SAY never SING.) Yet we see the twenty-four elders singing! Rev. 5:9 In fact they are singing about having been redeemed by the bloodthis Angels can never do, they know not what it is to have been redeemed! I am reminded of the chorus of an old hymn: Holy! Holy! Is what the Angels say And I expect to help them make the courts of Heaven ring. But when I sing redemptions story, they will fold their wings For Angels never felt the joy, that our Salvation brings! My friends, the weight of the evidence in the Bible can not honestly lead us to any other conclusion. The twenty-four elders in Revelation represent the born again Church of Jesus Christ, present in Heaven before the commencement of the Tribulation! Are you ready for the sound of the trumpet? Are you ready for the rapture? Seek our Lord Jesus today! Pastor Keith Brown runs http://www.hiscomingministries.com, where you can download free teaching on subjects such as this. Lunesta Personality Changes

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Ian_Mason] Ian Mason Lunesta is a newly released sleeping pill. Marketed as a revolutionary sleep aid, Lunesta is the only medication approved by the FDA for long term treatment of insomnia symptoms. Although Lunesta is a quality medicine that has already helped many people cure their insomnia symptoms and get a better night's sleep, there is something you should know before your buy Lunesta. Let me first say that these changes in behavior and thinking were not observed during Lunesta treatment in clinical trials. However, since Lunesta is similar to other sleep medicines that have been known to cause these symptoms, you should know that they are a possibility. Sleeping medicines have been known to cause the following behavioral changes: 1. Some people become more outgoing and sometimes aggressive. 2. You may become confused at times. 3. Strange behavior may occur. 4. Others may notice that you're in an agitated state. 5. You may notice a worsening of depression. 6. Hallucinations are fun for some people, but not when you never wanted them in the first place. Make sure to talk to your doctor about lowering your Lunesta dose if you have hallucinations. 7. Finally, you may have suicidal thoughts while taking Lunesta or another sleeping pill. Talk to your doctor about this if you experience such thoughts. Even if you think they are just due to the effects of your Lunesta prescription, suicidal thoughts must always be taken very seriously. Copyright 2004, 2005 Ian Mason, Shoppe.MD research team. Shockwave Therapy for Plantar Fasciitis

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Christine_Dobrowolski,_DPM] Christine Dobrowolski, DPM The most common cause for heel pain is plantar fasciitis. This condition is classically known for causing pain in the heel at the first step in the morning. The pain can be so severe that many will limp, or grab onto a wall during the first few steps in the morning. The pain will generally work itself out after 15-20 minutes of walking, but usually returns with a vengeance by the end of the day. Although this is the classic description of plantar fasciitis, it is not the only presentation of this condition. Some individuals will only experience pain in their heel when they run, walk or hike. Others will only experience pain in the arch after long periods of standing. Many people will complain only of pain in their heels at the end of a long workday. Classic descriptive terms for plantar fasciitis include stone bruise, sharp dagger, deep throbbing and dull ache. Plantar fasciitis is the microscopic tearing and inflammation of the plantar fascia, which is a long ligament on the bottom of the foot. A spur can develop as a result of the pull of the fascia, but it is rarely the cause of pain. This condition is also referred to as heel spur syndrome. There are many treatments for plantar fasciitis, including stretching, icing, physical therapy, orthotics, night splints, steroid injections, shockwave therapy and surgery. The term shockwave therapy usually makes people jump. No, this is not electric shock therapy. It is extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT). Shockwaves are sound waves that create vibrations and cause controlled injury to the tissue. In this case, the plantar fascia and the surrounding structures at the heel. The body responds by increasing its healing ability at that area, stimulating a repair process. The FDA approved ESWT for the treatment for plantar fasciitis in 2000, but it still remains under investigation and many insurance companies will not cover this treatment. The procedure is typically done at a surgery center and in some cases involves using anesthesia or some sedation. Full healing time after the procedure generally takes about three months. There are very few complications associated with ESWT, but a few that have been reported include bruising, hematomas, skin erosion, swelling and paresthesias (abnormal nerve sensations). A recent Study in the Journal of Foot & Ankle Surgery compared ESWT versus a sham procedure in 172 patients. The researchers found a statistically significant benefit of ESWT over the sham treatment and the patients experienced no significant complications or side effects. The 172 participants were divided randomly into two groups, a control group and an active ESWT group. The ESWT group included 115 patients with plantar fasciitis and underwent shockwave therapy. The control group included 57 patients with plantar fasciitis who had a sham treatment. All patients were brought into the procedure room and The Orthospec (ESWT device) was used to apply shockwaves to the heel area. The placebo group had a foam membrane placed against the heel to absorb the sounds waves, while the active ESWT group had only a contact membrane on the heel. The procedure lasted 25 minutes for both groups. Although the administrator of the shockwave therapy was not blinded, the investigators evaluating the patients, before and after the procedure, were blinded. A total of 152 participants completed the 12 week trial and 168 participants completed the procedure and had at least one follow up visit. The authors considered a successful treatment to be one in which the participants had a 50% improvement. The improvement in the ESWT group was significantly greater than in the control group (receiving the sham treatment). In this study, there was only a single treatment of shockwave therapy and no local anesthetics or systemic analgesics were used during the procedure. There were no serious adverse events during the trial, but some complained of bruising at the heel and swelling. Previous studies of ESWT for plantar fasciitis have had conflicting results. There is still continued debate over many issues surrounding ESWT: shockwave dosage, high-versus low-energy ESWT and the number of sessions required for a therapeutic effect. More studies, including the one reviewed here, are emerging with evidence which points to ESWT as a safe and effective treatment for plantar fasciitis. Malay SD, et al. College Loans: How Much Do You Really Need?

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Jill_Dow]Jill Dow Many students are leaving high school to begin the long endeavor of college. But before YOU go to college, you may find yourself wondering how you're going to pay for it. The answer is with a college loan. Most college students obtain student loans, but how do you figure out how much you really need for your college expenses? There are many aspects to consider. The first part of determining how much you need for a student loan is to figure out how much the cost of your schooling will be each year. First, figure out the cost of your tuition. Next, figure the cost of books, lab supplies, and school supplies. Finally, figure out the cost of your room and board. Once you have each expense tallied, add the cost of up for 1 year. The second thing you should determine is personal needs. This includes: food, transportation, unexpected expenses, car insurance, medical insurance, etc. Be sure that you always figure in a little extra because unexpected things can arise, and prices always tend to go up. Then add all of this together for the amount it would cost for 1 year. You've now figured the cost for a year, but it's best to get the college loan for the entire time you are to be at school. Most college loans are offered this way. Your credit score and your debt to income ratio determine college loan amounts. Loans will not be given for high amounts if the lender doesn't think you'll make enough to pay the monthly loan payment. Now that you know how much it's going to cost you to go to school and survive, you need to see if you will have any other type of income coming in. If you are working a part time job, you may not need the loan for the total amount. Do remember, that each month you will have to make a payment for the loan. Make sure that whatever your income is, that it is enough to make your monthly loan payment and any interest incurred. Pay attention to your debt to income ratio. If you don't make enough money to pay the monthly payment, you will have to take out a smaller student loan. You can go online to get help determining what you really need to pay for college. Check out our college loan calculator resources at http://www.collegeloanresource.com/collegeloancalculator/ or, you can sit down with a piece of paper and figure it with some help from family or loved ones. Take your time and don't forget to include everything. College can be very expensive. It is best to calculate the expenses right the first time. What's In a Name?

By Danny Siegenthaler For some time the term herbal medicine has been used to indicate natural forms of medicine given to patients who prefer to use natural forms of treatment rather than taking synthetic drug-type prescriptions manufactured by pharmaceutical companies. Herbal medicine is the oldest form of medicine and is still used today all over the world as a primary form of treatment in the management of disease. Unlike Western herbal medicine, Chinese medicine does not focus on deriving medicinal compounds from plants only. As has been widely publicized in the media of late, Chinese medicine makes use of animal parts, and in the case of Bear-bile, it utilizes bodily fluids. I am not about to start a discussion on the rights and wrongs of this, rather, I am thinking about the overly simplistic term 'Herbal medicine' that is used to refer to substances that are strictly speaking not herbal. For example trees, grains, minerals and vitamins. While they are usually part of the chemical composition of plants, they are not as such herbs. Herbs are herbaceous plants that are often seen as weeds. So, they are definitely not trees, or grains. In a Forum on natural skin care, alternative medicine and aromatherapy I've come across recently, the moderator suggests using the term 'Botanicals', as it is more encompassing and includes trees, grains and non-herbaceous plant parts, as well as indicating that the substances referred to as Botanicals are of natural origin. The term 'Botanicals' also contains the idea of herbal, but is less limiting. Botanicals also indicates natural and has possibly a slightly more 'medical' sense to it... Pharmaceuticals, Botanicals? I don't know, but they sound somewhat similar and provide the information that people are looking for. Pharmaceutical: made by pharmaceutical companies - Botanical: made by nature... What do you think? Danny Siegenthaler is a doctor of traditional Chinese medicine and together with his wife Susan, a medical herbalist and Aromatherapist, they have created Natural Skin Care Products by Wildcrafted Herbal Products to share their 40 years of combined expertise with you. Lead Generation Basics For The Business Who Wants More Sales

By Justin Hitt Are you generating enough leads to drive the sales volume you desire? Do you know what a lead looks like and why they are so important? Many businesses do not understand the basics of lead generation and to a fault lose business they deserve. If you're not generating enough leads, perhaps your sales and marketing teams don't understand the value of a solid lead generation program properly implemented. You can have all the fresh qualified leads you want if you just knew how to attract them the right way. Lead generation is a critical part of your business, because: Leads are qualified individuals interested in what you offer,Leads are willing to invest in a specific solution,Leads have a specific problem they want to solve now,Leads look just like the customers you already have, The bottom line, leads are people who raise their hand to learn more about your product or service ... and more importantly are highly likely to purchase that solution. I've put together a free course that provides more detail about the relationship between generating qualified leads and sales; you'll find the complete course at http://b2barticles.com/17EasyWays/ Meanwhile, let's start qualifying leads at every step. Now that you know the definition of a lead, look at each name that comes across your table. With many clients, I've sat down with sales to develop a list of questions that should be answered about each lead that help determine if the lead is qualified or not. The foundation of lead generation is qualification. Are you qualifying leads? Are you identifying key problems? Are you making sure they have money to spend? If not, you're losing sales you deserve.
